Position: Dog Walker

Reports to: Owner– Phillipa Bates

Job Type: Casual Employee (initially 2-3 days a week)

Pay/Benefits

$31.23 per hour super 11.5% (includes pick-ups and drop offs)

Who we are

At Happy Paws we are barking mad about dogs, so much so, that we work with them every single day (yes, the dream job does exist – we’re still pinching ourselves!). We pride ourselves on fostering outstanding relationships with both dog owners and the dogs themselves. Our services being mainly one-on-one walks from the clients home and pet sitting.

What You’ll Do

Work hours will mainly be between 8:00 am– 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Come rain or shine (except for extreme weather conditions)

As a Dog Walker, you will have a love for all dogs, a vibrant personality, a high level of accountability and responsibility. You will be responsible for picking up and dropping off dogs to and from their homes. Walks will be up to four dogs for 1 hour or ½ hour walks, daily. You need to be a problem solver and the ability to work alone.

Tasks include:

•Accountability and care of up to four dogs per walk.

•Visit clients’ homes and pick up/drop off their dogs before and after walks.

•Provide a safe, fun and exciting experience for every pooch (and pooch owner!).

•Be a pup-arazzi - take photos and videos of dogs to show their owners how much fun they had!

•Promote Happy Paws to the community with enthusiasm.

*This role will have the opportunity for the right candidate to take on extra hours. Flexibility with time availability would be highly advantageous. Please specify in your application if this is possible.

What You’ll Bring

•Your love and compassion for all dogs, good observation and having an eye for detail with dog behaviour.

•Having a fun and active lifestyle, the ability to multitask and excellent communication and good photography skills.

•Confidence and experience handling dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes.

•Must be physically fit and willing to walk 10-15 km a day.

•Outstanding customer service skills.

•Strong time management ability.

•An unflappable manner - you always remain cool, calm and collected under pressure.

•Current Full Driver's License and have own vehicle!!

•Must have full Australian working rights and be over 18 years old.

•Current or Graduated Animal Care students or Certification Holders will be highly regarded.

•Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

Duties include:

•Transport dogs safely between homes and walking tracks (all over Canberra and surrounds).

•Exercise and play with the dogs as per their needs and requirements.

•Closely supervise and monitor all dogs in your care.

•Take photos/videos of the walks.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being surrounded by dogs, shorter working days, exploring the Canberra region and lots of exercise!

References & Background Check

•A detailed background check, including References, will be conducted on the successful candidate.

•You’ll need to be able to provide the contact details of two referees who can provide evidence of your reliability, ability and willingness to do the job.

•Proof of your ability to work in Australia (Citizenship or Visa status) will be required
